Cathleen Rotich

Global Resident Champion

In August 2002, someone challenged me to consider taking a year off from work to intern at a Nairobi Chapel church plant called Lifespring Chapel. I eventually accepted the challenge after ‘extorting’ a promise that I would not be asked to serve in either the children or youth ministries.

Guess what one of our major duties was… to organize and run the very first Vocational Bible School (VBS) for the children’s ministry! I survived to tell the story. The one year of leadership residency had such a profound impact on my life. I was completely sold out to serving within the church on a full time basis. I fell in love with the mission of the church and with the people that have such great potential to be used by God. I later served with Nairobi Chapel for 8 years in the lead role on the Leadership Development program, KINARA. Our mandate as a team was to find, train and disciple emerging leaders for the purpose of ministry specifically in the mission field. In these 8 years, we trained and commissioned over 200 ministry leaders into new church plants and also to internal church position.  I see my role in the Church body as being a strategic connector of God’s people to God’s mission through training and capacity building.

I am married to Robert Rotich and we have three children, Thandi (12), Kimutai (9) and Kiptoo (7). At the end of 2014, we as a family began a new season of our lives when we got an opportunity to move to Dubai. It’s been a great year of being in a completely new environment with new challenges but with the same gospel and savior. Navigating these cultural bridges continues to open me to the global, universal nature and need of the gospel and our Savior. I am a member of an amazing church called ‘Fellowship of the Emirates’ and I serve as a children’s ministry volunteer. There are a lot of scripture verses that speak into the major issues of my life. There is one though, that has been a beacon at both a professional and personal level:  Ephesians 2:10, ‘We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works that He prepared in advance for us to do.’

God has a mandate for each and every person and I am confident in His leading knowing full well he is executing his ‘curriculum’ so that I and others are equipped do these good works!
