Bob Smith is an Executive Pastor at 2|42 Community Church. His primary responsibilities include overseeing campus expansions of 2|42, as well as new church planting initiatives. Bob previously served as the Brighton Campus Pastor and then as the Executive Pastor of Business Operations prior to leading the “20 by 2020” new churches initiative that began in 2015 (#15 will launch in fall of 2018). Bob serves on the NewThing North American Team as the Residency and Resources Catalyst.
Bob has more than 28 years of law enforcement experience, 25 years with Plymouth Township, Michigan. During his tenure, Bob was primarily responsible for business operations and supervision of all operations within the department, including planning and research, directing community policing, Police Executive Leadership training, Total Quality Management efforts, preparing policies, budget documents, and grant applications. Bob retired as the Deputy Chief of Police in November of 2010.
Bob graduated from Northwestern University’s Traffic Institute School of Staff and Command in 1993 and earned his Masters Degree in Liberal Studies from Eastern Michigan University in 1995. He has served on the Board of Directors of several community organizations and previously held the position of Chairmen of the Board of New Churches of Christ-Evangelism from 2007-2017. Bob currently serves on the Board of The Solomon Foundation.
Bob is married to Kim (34 years). Together they are the parents of two adult sons, and the grandparents of Cana Grace.
