Two Affilates Launched in October

October was an exciting month for NewThing, as we celebrated the launch of two brand new Affiliate churches: Momentum Christian Church in Chula Vista, CA and Waterfront Community Church in Schaumburg, IL.

After years of praying and dreaming and 11 months of preparing and planning, Momentum Christian Church launched on Sunday, October 12th inside the AMC Movie Theater. And God showed up in a big way. Six of the 179 in attendance said they are now interested in becoming Christ Followers! One young lady who is not yet a Christ Follower said she had never felt so accepted and welcomed in her life. She was moved to tears and mentioned to Lead Pastor, Chris Hornbrook afterward that she would be back every week and that she was going to bring all of her friends! That is just one of the many stories God wrote on Sunday at Momentum. What an incredible day!

The following Sunday - October 19th, Lead Pastor, Jim Semradek and his team launched Waterfront Community Church in Schaumburg, IL. Over 230 people celebrated the grand opening of this new church in the auditorium of Schaumburg High School. Jim recently served as COMMUNITY’S Romeoville Campus Pastor and was called to plant a new church that is part of the NewThing Network.

Jim’s launch team included a number of families from Community Christian Church who chose to join Jim to launch this church in Schaumburg to relentlessly love God and love people. As a clear expression of their mission, WaterFront gave their opening day offering - over $4300 to benefit a single mom in the community.

We couldn’t be more excited for Chris, Jim & their launch teams. Because of their faithfulness to God’s calling on their lives, hundreds if not thousands of people will find their way back God – future Christ-followers, future leaders and maybe even future church planters. Please continue to pray for both Momentum and Waterfront as they seek to help more and more people find their way back to God through this movement of reproducing churches!;
