Resources - Help Us Equp the Movements

The vision for NewThing is to be a catalyst for movements of reproducing churches and we believe there are four values that drive that vision. If consistently held high, these four values will catalyze movements that accomplish the Jesus Mission: As we mentioned last month these are Resources, Relationships, Reproducing, and Residents.  Each month, over the next four months, we will highlight one of these R's, so be sure to check back to learn more about why these values are such a driving force in accomplishing the Jesus Mission.

We believe it is important to develop and make accessible resources to equip church leaders and church planters for reproducing and starting new things. This past year we took a giant step and created a number of innovative and much-needed resources like the "Apprenticing A Leadership Resident Guide".  We're also working to develop a means by which to give our NewThing churches greater access to the creative content being developed in our churches.  One of the most recently developed resources is our new online training: NewThing Online.

NewThing Online launched in January 2013 with our first broadcast featuring Alan Hirsch. Our next broadcast will be in March featuring Larry Osborne from North Coast Church in Vista, CA.  He has written a number of books including Sticky Church and Sticky Teams.  For most churches the springtime is a season of significant growth:  Many of our churches will see more newcomers over the next few months than any other time of year.  Larry will help us know how to better prepare our people and our teams for properly managing and fostering that growth.

It is our hope that these on-line training opportunities will better equip our movements.  We are encouraging our network leaders to use the content from available online training to jump-start their monthly network calls. We hope that our NewThing pastors will use this content to equip their church staffs. We are providing a training resource with each of these broadcasts to serve as a discussion guide following the broadcasts.

Secondly, we believe these broadcasts will create synergy throughout NewThing. We all know vision "leaks", and we believe coming together online like this will remind us of why we do what we do and how together we are catalyzing movements of reproducing churches.  That is why every time we're together on-line we will include a brief vision time from Dave.

Finally, we believe this kind of training gives prospective church planters another reason to jump in with NewThing. God has blessed NewThing with access to some of the most cutting edge thought leaders and innovators.  We know that we all can't  afford to go to the speakers, so we plan to bring them to you with fresh, new, and relevant content.  Stay tuned for more updates regarding the resources we are developing at NewThing Online.
