NewThing Church Planting Movements in Russia

In November, NewThing had the opportunity to visit with Joe Wilson, a NewThing Movement Leader in Russia where he provides leadership to three Networks with a total of 19 church plants.  With less than 1/3 of 1% churched in Russia, NewThing and Joe has a dream to be a catalyst for a movement of reproducing churches in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Belarus, Ukraine and beyond.

Jon Ferguson and I flew a total of 36 hours and with a grand total of 16,000 miles in order to get to Krasnoyarsk, a city that is nearly 1M people.  Once we rested up from our travel, we headed to “frozen forests” of Siberia to speak to the gathering of some 60 pastors who were seeking to grow and multiply their churches. 

With interpreters by our sides, Jon and I were able to share the story of NewThing and COMMUNITY and how God has blessed this growing movement to reach so many people through the reproducing practices of apprenticeship, network multiplication and staying focused on the mission of helping people find their way back to God.

Through Joe and his leadership, God is up to some amazing stuff.  In just a few short years they have multiplied from a handful of churches to almost 20.  Joe has a long-term dream to see that become 8 Networks with 59 reproducing churches across Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and maybe even into Nicaragua.  We believe Joe can do this as he is a solid Christ-follower completely committed to the mission of helping people find their way back to God.  Please join us in praying for a reproducing church movement to reach the 150M people who live in Russia.
