Community Christian Church's multi-site story is a series of God-things. We began as a small group of college friends with an unwavering passion to "help people find their way back to God." Our first public celebration service was held on March 5, 1989 at Naperville Central High School. Our three-fold vision was to be:
Over the last seventeen years Community Christian Church has sought to fulfill the dream of God as a reproducing multi-site church that has grown from one small group of 5 friends to a multi-site church with 9 locations and an average weekend attendance of over 5000!
We went multi-site in 1998 and officially became one church with two locations. Through a series of God-things, a local developer offered to donate a facility for the church in a new neighborhood development in Romeoville, Illinois. We had already grown to over 800 attendees and took this proactive step to launch a second location to reach the unchurched.
After going multi-site, our outreach more than quadrupled with an average attendance of more than 3600. The majority of these new attendees were previously unchurched! The second location was so successful we launched a third location in 2001 – Carillon; a fourth in 2002 –Montgomery; and two more in 2004 – Naperville Downtown and Shorewood; for a total of six sites!
In 2005, our Pilsen location launched in Chicago with one English-speaking service and one Spanish-speaking service. Our Yorkville campus launched in 2006 and Plainfield followed in 2008. Today over 5000 people celebrate at nine locations in Chicagoland and over 600 leaders and artists contribute weekly to make that happen. We love helping people find their way back to God!
