What is the Leadership Training Center?

Training, equipping and sending residents to plant a new, reproducing church or campus.

What is the LTC?

The LTC is a state-of-the-art training program for people who want to complete a NewThing leadership residency at one of COMMUNITY’s 10 locations. You will be ready to plant a reproducing church at the end of your residency.


Why Should You Do a Residency at COMMUNITY?

A Leadership Residency at COMMUNITY gives you the opportunity to experience the following:

  • A mentoring relationship with a Lead and/or Campus Pastor
  • Networking opportunities through NewThing Gatherings, Exponential Conferences and other NewThing events
  • Practical, hands-on leadership in a church ministry and reproducing leadership
  • Experienced practitioners teach and host the cohorts.
  • An opportunity to take advantage of 25% discount on a Wheaton College M.A.*
  • Not ready to start a church? Track 1 and Track 2 are designed to help you discern God's call on your life.

Residency Requirements

  • Relocation to Chicago
  • Self-funded
  • Time commitment is varied and is based on your track. 

* Candidates who finish the LTC receive 8 hours equivalent toward this degree. 

Track Outcomes

Choose the Track that is right for you!

    Track 1 - SELF (6 months)

    • Establish spiritual disciplines
    • Develop time management skills
    • Understand gifts and passions
    • Learn the dynamics of RPMS self leadership
    • Determine what God is calling you to do in the Kingdom.

    Track 2 - TEAM (6 months)

    • Lead a small group and reproduce it
    • Apprentice a new leader
    • Manage select ministry projects
    • Motivate others to a desired result

    Track 3 - CHURCH (1 year)

    • Church planting nuts and bolts
    • Preaching and teaching
    • Raise $ for a church
    • Develop a leadership team
    • Start a church

    LTC Commissioning - Cohort #1

    • Qualified candidates could receive scholarships.
    • Residents at the LTC will work directly with COMMUNITY Campus Leaders, including Dave and Jon Ferguson.
    • Select Residents will be invited to plant new COMMUNITY locations.
    • Residents earn credit for a Masters Degree at Wheaton College.
