Matt Reece’s involvement with the church came to a halt when he was young. He grew up believing the church was irrelevant and that they wanted your money, your soul and your obedience to whatever rules and regulations they felt inclined to enforce. After marrying his wife, Carrie, they had a family and thought it best to attend church because it would be “good for our children.”  They soon began meeting people and gradually learned that there was more to church than they realized.  

After almost a year, he felt like there must be people similar to him who have missed what the church is supposed to be about. Matt and Carrie, committed themselves to starting a church that really connects with the people who are tired of being beat up by the church, been hurt by the church or never really experienced a great relationship with the church.

Upon graduation from Johnson Bible College, Matt led a church in Indiana for a couple years while God helped cultivate his appetite for church planting. They moved to Eagan, MN in September 2006, immediately fell in love with it and celebrated the launch of The Path on September 23, 2007 with 216 people. Their mission is “not to grow another mega-church, but to help people see that God cares more about people than he does money or rules and regulations.”
